This is our Luta Livre team: Luz Do Verão, which means in Brazilian Portuguese, Light of Summer. This expression plays homage to when I first started Jiu Jitsu, and in the summer we would take off the gi. Our team is affiliated with both the International Federation of Luta Livre Esportive (IFLLE) and the Confederação Brasileira Luta Livre Esportiva (CBLLE). And our main lineage is under Grão Mestre Basco Lima, 9th Degree Luta Livre Red Belt and leader of the Angre Top Team (ATT) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The IFLLE is the most professional federation of Luta Livre in the world that grew out of Rio de Juneiro. Initially, with its roots in the CBLLE is an entity whose mission is to organize and unite sport submission grappling, promoting its teachers and practitioners through the development of their skills and competencies, in addition to preserving our history and legacy. The CBLLE is founded by João Bosco Lima – Grand Master 9th Degree Red Belt of Luta Livre.
We took the gi off in the Summer and trained no-gi until the Fall. Back then, there was a rivalry in Brazil. There has always been a long history, but the longer you train and share the knowledge in the Academy, in competition in the arena, and off the tatami, the more we look at unity theory and technique. This generation needs to be surrounded by good people who can help model becoming a better person even through this path of unity. Luta Livre Team.com is an excellent way to help connect likeminded academies, coaches and students, that wish to train and study Luta Livre. The Light of Summer is with Luz Do Verão Luta Livre!
Affiliation: If you want to join the Luz Do Verão Luta Livre team, please send your inquiry to Tony Pacenski. At this time, our team has affiliates in the United States, Japan, Brazil, and Australia. In addition, we have inquiries from European countries, Mexico, Turkey, and others; therefore, we expanded our connection to our official website at www.lutalivreteam.com and social media. Luta Livre, also known as Brazilian Freestyle Fighting, Brazilian Submission Wrestling or Sport Wrestling, is a dynamic and exciting martial art that has gained popularity worldwide with the running and awareness of the submission only NoGi competitions.
Luta Livre’s founder is credited to be Euclydes “Tatu” Hatem, who was originally a famous catch wrestler so Catch Wrestling is the base Luta Livre was built on and plays an important part in its structure and development. Euclydes Hatem went by the name of Tatu. He began teaching catch wrestling techniques to others in Rio de Janeiro in 1927 while experimenting with some of his own innovative techniques.
Tatu brought on many challenges with the Brazilian jiu-jitsu and culminated with his victory over George Gracie in the Catch rules fight. The style emphasized fighting without a gi/uniform. For more information, about the complex history of Luta Livre and its connection to catch wrestling, judo, jiu jitsu, and grappling, please review and read the Simon BJJ’s article, We Come From Catch Wrestling Too.
Luta Livre is a NoGi grappling style that focuses on submission techniques and wrestling takedowns, making it an excellent choice for those interested in the art of ground fighting. Luta Livre has been around longer than Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is an exciting martial art that is really growing with huge momentum in countries outside of Brazil thanks the CBLLE founded and headed by Luta Livre Master João Bosco Lima – Grão mestre 9º Dan Red Belt.
Luta Livre Submission encompasses a wide range of techniques including armlocks, leg locks, chokes and sweeps just to name a few. These techniques are designed to immobilize and pin opponents and force them into submission without the use of strikes. This makes Luta Livre an ideal martial art for those who want to focus on grappling skills without a Gi and develop their ground game
Luta Livre offers a unique blend of NoGi Grappling techniques that can be applied both in competition settings and real-life situations. Its emphasis on submission grappling makes it an exciting choice for those seeking to enhance their ground fighting skills while promoting discipline and personal growth (citations: kaizenmartialartsaustralia.com). It should be noted that the core belt ranks for Luta Livre are white, yellow, orange, blue, purple, brown, and black belts.
